A blackened pre-filter. One shift. That's where this started.
A welder I know pulled the pre-filter out of his respirator after one day of hard facing. He held it up. It was black. Completely clogged. Eight hours of work.
I asked him how often he actually wears the respirator.
He laughed. "Maybe when I remember. It's hot. It fogs my hood. Half the time I can't get it to seal because of my beard."
